bulletThree families having children with Systemic Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis (JRA) have met at our house.   We discussed our broad range of feelings and were able to share helpful coping techniques and resources.  Much fun was had by all!  We feel optimistic about the future and have created an "extended family" amongst ourselves!

(Sept 2004)  $2 million gift  donated to St. Louis University to expand juvenile arthritis research . 

 

bullet (Summer 2004)  The National Alliance for Autism Research (NAAR) selected Arizona's own Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center, known as SARRC, in partnership with Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen), to be the headquarters for one of the largest studies involving genes responsible for inheriting autism.  Arizona will soon be the "national hub for genomics research  in autism".  Research efforts will include participation from researchers in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, France, Sweden, Denmark, and Germany.   "More than 6,300 samples of individuals with autism from around the world will be sent to Arizona for genome-scanning".

Your child needs a certain amount of sleep based on his age...  According to the National Sleep Foundation (2004)

                    infants (3-11 months)= 14-15 hours

                    toddlers (12-35 months)= 12-14 hours

                    preschoolers (3-5 years) & kindergartners (5-6 years)= 11-13 hours

                    school-age (1st-fifth grade)= 10-11 hours
